The people have the freeadom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, and the freedom of petition of the government. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on teh freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assembly, and petitioning for the government.
The people have the right to have a gun. This allows the people of the U.S to have and legally own certain weapons.
The Army/Military are not allowed to take over your house. The soldiers cannot barge in or live in a citizens home without permission, during war time and peace time.
No unreasonable searches by anybody. Government officials cannot search citizens homes without a search warrant approved by a judge.
You can not be incriminated by the government without proof. This amendment gives the accused the right to testify against themselves.
You have the right to a speedy and fair trial. All accused people have the right to quick and speedy trial, it also requires that a legal counsel must be provided to the defendant. If the defendant cannot afford a lawyer, the government must provide one for them.
The right to a trial by jury. It also means that once the care has been decided, that case may not be re-examined by another court.
No cruel or unusual punishments. This prevents people from getting punished cruelly, or getting huge fines, or bail costs.
People retain certain rights. It means that just beacuse the Constitution specifically grants the people certain rights does not mean that they have only those rights mentioned.
Protects the people and states from an all powerful Federal Government. It means that powers not given the government in the constitution are given to the states.
limits the power of federal courts. This amendment deals with each states sovereign immunity from being sued in federal court by someone from another state or country.
The Electoral College has to use seperate ballots in voting for the President and Vice President. It also means the candidates with the greatest number of votes for each office will be elected if that number constitutes a majority of the total electors.
slavery is against the law and congress can enforce it. The 13th amendment means that you cannot put anyone into slavery.
Anybody born in the United States is a U.S. citizen. It protects the rights of citizenship in general by prohibiting a state from depriving a person of life, liberty, or property.
